Meet The Runaway Vows Team
After graduating from BYU with a degree in computer science, Nate took his passions in analytics, development, and UI, coupled with his love in human connection, to create a passion-focused career for himself in filmmaking. Not only does filmmaking allow Nate to explore his skillsets in a creative outlet - it allows him to meet and create relationships with like-minded people, explore the world, and most importantly, be present with his family and God.

Jake started filming back when he was just 14 years old. He’d film comedy sketches with his brother and put them on Youtube. He has always been a storyteller and a builder. He loves making people happy, loves creating stories, books, smoked meats, and even building LEGOs (yes, he still proclaims to be a LEGOs fanatic). Jake pursues his passions in life through his hobbies and his career so that he can focus on the love and family around him.

"We’ve actually been filming together for almost 5 years! We would second for each other at almost every wedding we had. We always loved working together - and felt like we could do it SEAMLESSLY. One day we just decided that we no longer wanted to do it separately. We share similar values, trust each other's work, bring different strengths to the table, and at the end of the day just love working together. So we said, let’s team up, and Runaway Vows was born."
WHAT ULTIMATELY MADE YOU GUYS DECIDE TO JOIN TEAMS?
Tell us more about your family life!
"Family, along with God, is definitely a number one value to me and my wife, Cayla. We actually just got married in 2021 and she keeps me young every day. My goal in life is to work as hard as she does while still creating and maintaining relationships with other people."

"I met my wife when I was only 17 living in Atlanta. Our moms were friends in high school and set us up. She lived in Arizona at the time so we did long distance for 3 years until finally we said… what are we waiting for? We've been married 5 years now, and she's my everything."
Jake
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE FILMMAKING PROCESS?
"I'm big on the editing side of filmmaking, especially when it comes to finding good music. Music makes or breaks a film, and I love finding the right vibe."
Nate
"That's a tough one - I love it all. My passion is directing, and creating a story through every shot. I'm always here for the story."

DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY SECRET TALENTS?
"I love cooking, especially baking home-made sourdough. I also can destroy anyone in Super Smash bros. It’s lead to some major arguments between Jake and I, but I always come out on top.”
Nate
"I recently got into smoking meats, and I make a GREAT Texas styled brisket. I'm also a movie carnivore. If you name a movie, I've probably seen it, and I could tell you way too much about it ... I watch the Behind the Scenes religiously for every movie"
Jake
GIVE US SOME DEETS OR FUN FACTS ABOUT YOU TWO!
"I hold strong value in health and try my best to be a fitness enthusiast. I train all year round and love it. In addition to my sourdough skills, I love to garden, chill in a sauna, and golf. In short, I am a 50-year-old in a 26-year-old body, and I don't feel ashamed about it at all."
Nate
"As much as I love to travel the world, I am also a homebody. Like I said, you'll find me and my wife watching a movie any night on our couch. I have a beautiful mini Golden Doodle named Walter who I love. I also love teaching and learning; I believe that EVERYONE has value to offer and can be a teacher. Humility in this industry is one of the most crucial things to be truly successful in my relationships and growth."
